Matty's Last Flight

POLICE ACCIDENT PHOTOS AND INCIDENT REPORT:

On the day Jeff, Mike and I ventured to Greeley to see the wreckage of Matty's plane, the investigator for the NTSB informed me that there was a set of crash site photos that the local police officer had taken to reference the crash site. I contacted the officer and he emailed me a set of 19 images and a copy of the Officer's Incident Report.

If you viewed the FOX 31 News video on the homepage, the police photos are very similar to the news footage since they were taken pretty much at the same time. The pictures collectively show a 360 degree perspective of the accident scene. There is a yellow plastic sheet covering the cockpit, where Matty and his student are still confined. These photos are not bloody, but they do show the severity of the impact and the full reality of what happened that day. I understand that some of you might not want to view these images, but in order to help bring some closure for many of you, I wanted to make them available. I have purposely linked to them on a separate page so not to offend anyone. Trust me, there's nothing obscene here, but they do show in full dramatic color what indeed happened to our friend that day in September and helps to explain how his life force came to such an abrupt end. FYI, there are a couple photos that show ball caps laying on the ground. Matty's is the blue one resting near the front right of the plane, just below the yellow tarp. The other tan hat is his student's which is laying out in the dirt in front of the left wing. A vivid reminder of the 2 lives that were just lost.

As far as the Police Incident Report, it is an interesting 8 page pdf which you can view online but printing is not allowed. The original pdf that I obtained had an additional 4 pages that included personal information from the eyewitnesses which I chose to delete to protect their privacy.
