One of a kind.
How do you begin to describe such a unique individual. He has brought so many fond memories to everyone he's come in contact with. Honest to a fault, hard working, stubborn, enthusiastic; lover of life, women, food and song.
A restless soul even as a little boy, I often remember thinking that this kid must have been hatched, not born. He spread his wings early by clocking over 5000 miles on a moped he had in his early teens.
He toured Europe after finishing studies at UMass, Amhearst. He bounced back and fourth for several years lifeguarding at the Cape and skiing in Breckenridge where he could hit the slopes for as many as 75 days in a single season.
The past 20 years in Colorado he has experienced sky diving, white water rafting, mountain biking, several Ride the Rockies events, tons of golf, 100+ Red Rocks shows, owned and operated Ten-Two Cabinetry, built his own home and earned numerous pilot ratings.
Matty also loved to travel extensively to visit with friends which he even did through summer '07. His passion for flying and enthusiasm for life, laughs and friendship will be missed greatly. |

Mom's bracelet, the one Matty has worn since she passed several years ago, was not found to be on him after the accident. You can see the bracelet on his right wrist in many of the pics within these pages. On Wed the 26th, 11 days after all debris was cleared from the scene, Jeff, Mike and myself ventured to see the plane wreckage in Greeley and then onto the crash site. After 4 wheeling up a steep hill in the Mattymobile , we walked about 300 yards into an open field and found what was obviously a small area of fuel-soiled ground. There in the middle of the spot was one ball end of Mom's bracelet. About 2 feet away, jammed into the loose soil was the rest of the bracelet. I snapped a picture of it below while riding back from Matty's house later in the day. |
